The short version: Tax Moose does its work entirely on your device. No accounts, no ads, we don't sell your data.

01 The short version

Tax Moose is a sales-tax calculator. It runs on your device and does not require an account. This section summarizes the policy in plain language; the numbered sections below give the specifics.

Everything you type — amounts, calculations, and any quotes you save — stays on your device. We don't ask for your name, email, or an account, and we don't sell your data. The only information that ever leaves your device is anonymous usage statistics and crash diagnostics (through Google's Firebase) that help us fix bugs and improve the app, plus the purchase check that unlocks Pro (handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat). There are no ads.

02 What we collect

Tax Moose is designed to collect as little as possible. We do not ask for your name, email, or account.

The only information we or our providers may receive is:

  • Anonymous usage statistics — for example, which calculation mode or tool you used and which province was selected, so we can understand which features matter. These never include the amounts you type, your calculations, or anything that identifies you.
  • Crash and error diagnostics — standard technical reports (such as a stack trace, device model, and operating-system version) that are generated when something goes wrong, so we can fix it.
  • Purchase records — when you buy Pro, the app stores and our purchase provider confirm the purchase so we can unlock the feature.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or any account. The amounts you enter, your calculations, and your saved quotes are never transmitted off your device.

03 Data stored on your device

Your settings and content stay on your device. This includes your selected province, language, appearance, default tool, your saved purchase status, and any content you create with Pro:

  • Recents — a log of your calculations. This is off by default; it only records anything if you turn on "Auto-log results," and you can clear it or turn it off at any time.
  • Saved Quotes — the itemized quotes you choose to save, including the names and amounts you enter.

This information lives only on your device. If you have device backups enabled (iCloud on iOS or Google backup on Android), your device may include this data in those backups — that's controlled by your device and Apple's or Google's settings, not by Tax Moose. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device.

04 Analytics & crash reports

We use two Google services to understand how the app is used and to keep it stable. Both are part of Firebase.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase — collects anonymous, aggregated usage events, such as which calculation mode or tool you used, which province was selected, and whether the Pro screen was shown or a purchase was made. These events do not include the amounts you type, your calculations, or any information that identifies you.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash and error diagnostics (such as a stack trace, device model, and operating-system version) so we can find and fix problems. We don't attach your name or any user identifier to these reports.

On iOS, these events are only sent from released versions of the app — not from development builds. This data is processed by Google under Firebase's privacy and security terms and Google's Privacy Policy. You can limit this collection through your device's privacy settings (for example, iOS "Allow Apps to Request to Track" and analytics-sharing controls, or Android's ads and usage & diagnostics settings).

05 Purchases

The one-time Pro purchase is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by the app store you bought through.

We use RevenueCat to confirm and restore your purchase so the app knows Pro is unlocked. RevenueCat receives a purchase receipt and an anonymous identifier from the app store; it does not receive your name or payment details. See the Apple Privacy Policy, the Google Privacy Policy, and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for details.

06 Third-party services

Tax Moose relies on a small number of third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Apple App Store — app distribution and Pro billing (iOS).
  • Google Play — app distribution and Pro billing (Android).
  • Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage statistics.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error diagnostics.
  • RevenueCat — Pro purchase validation and restore.

Tax Moose contains no advertising, no ad networks, and no additional trackers beyond the services listed above.

07 Children

Tax Moose is a general-purpose business tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and collects no personal details, it does not knowingly gather such information from anyone. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we'll address it.

08 Your rights & choices

Because Tax Moose keeps your content on your device, you're in control:

  • Delete your data — clear Recents and Saved Quotes from within the app, or delete the app to remove all data stored on your device.
  • Turn off logging — Recents is off by default; you can keep it off or turn it off at any time.
  • Opt out of analytics — use your device's privacy and diagnostics settings to limit analytics and crash reporting.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you (for example under Canada's PIPEDA or applicable provincial legislation). Since we don't maintain accounts or hold identifiable personal information about you, there's typically nothing for us to retrieve — but you're welcome to contact us with any request or question.

09 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.

When we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note it within the app. Your continued use of Tax Moose after an update means you accept the revised policy.
